Jesse McCree

Jesse McCree

Jesse McCree is a former lead level designer for World of Warcraft.

In a Kotaku article published on August 11, 2021, the gaming website cited internal sources that claimed McCree -- along with Luis Barriga and Jonathan LeCraft -- were let go from Blizzard Entertainment. This was later confirmed the same day by a spokesperson for Activision Blizzard, stating that they "are no longer with the company".[1]

The characters Jesseriah McCree, Jessup McCree, Marshal McCree, Jenny McCree and Jessera of Mac'Aree (and, by extension, the city of Mac'Aree) are all likely references to him. His name was also used for the Overwatch character Jesse McCree.[2] However, due to sexual harassment allegations against Activision Blizzard and subsidiaries in 2021 during which the real McCree was let go, the Overwatch team decided to rename the character.[3]
