Mayor Charlton Connisport is a human quest giver and the mayor of Surwich, in the Blasted Lands.

History

At the time of the Cataclysm, Charlton Connisport and his people of Gilneas arrived in the Blasted Lands. Upon their arrival, his old friend Marl Wormthorn believed that the Tainted Scar could be healed, and grow it back by creating the great tree Maldraz. At first, it was a success and the forest was restored to its former, greener self, allowing the refugees to build Surwich, while Charlton became its mayor.

However, the residual demonic powers left on the land began to take their toll, and while Wormthorn's attention was drawn to fighting back the demonic taint, the nathrezim of the Tainted Scar corrupted his trance, and used his body as a weapon to corrupt the tree and the forest.

In order to halt the corruption, Charlton asked Alliance adventurers, sent to him by Watch Commander Relthorn Netherwane, to reduce the number of demons threatening Surwich and the forest. When he found out his old friend and the great tree were corrupted by demons, he sent the adventurers to meet Cenarion Observer Shayana, in order to find a way to stop the druid and his creation from endangering the lives of others. Once ready, he ordered that Marl Wormthorn was secretly eliminated, as the moral of the citizens was already low. He later thanks the heroes for their achievement, although he feared the reaction of his people to the druid's death, as they clung so tightly to his dream.
