Stags are beasts, a type of deer. They are large animals, taller than humans, and have antlers. Most stags are neutral when approached. They are herbivores.[1]

Stags are common in forested areas throughout Azeroth. They are targets for humanoid hunters and natural predators like wolves, but their mighty antlers and ferocity make them difficult prey. Stags avoid conflict, but can be aggressive in larger groups or when startled.

Stags became tamable by hunters as Ferocity pets with the Warlords of Draenor expansion. They feature a wide range of models, including talbuk and gazelles, and possess the Grace (pet) skill when tamed.

In Legion, there will be a much larger form of deer, the moose, in the Broken Isles, and they come in brown, fawn, silvery-white, and black. Keep in mind that moose are only found in Highmountain.

Patch changes

Warlords of Draenor Patch 6.0.2 (2014-10-14): Members of the stag family are now tamable as hunter pets.
