The crystal caverns of Terramok lie deep within Maraudon in Desolace. Relics of the Old Gods lie hidden behind the giant doors.[1] Terramok was a vault of the titans. Theradras referred to this place as her home, and even though it was once her prison and she was bound there, she would never leave it.[2] Therazane claimed that her daughter sequestered herself deep within the Crystal Caves of Terramok to grieve for her lost love, Zaetar. She was then killed by fleshlings.[3]

Notes

  • While earlier sources imply that Terramok is a titanic vault that served as Theradras' prison, World of Warcraft: Chronicle Volume 1 makes no mention of this, instead stating that Theradras evaded imprisonment by the titan-forged and instead retreated into a long slumber below the land later named Desolace.[4]
  • Terramok's name is most likely derived from terra, a Latin word meaning earth.

In the RPG

Behind a series of spiked barriers in the center of the mesa stands Terramok, an ancient titan vault. This place is rumored to hold Theradras, former princess of the vile earth elementals and legendary mother of the centaur race. Some even claim that Theradras guards the tomb of her husband, the Keeper of the Grove killed by the first khans.[5]

Speculation

Questionmark-medium
This article or section includes speculation, observations or opinions possibly supported by lore or by Blizzard officials. It should not be taken as representing official lore.
  • Translating Warcraft: The Roleplaying Game information to World of Warcraft, the "spiked barriers" seem to be the Valley of Spears, "the mesa" seems to be the Valley of Spears counted as a part of Maraudon, and Terramok seems to be the underground portion of the area. However, the RPG is non-canon. Still, that seems to be what the initial concept was.
