The Nightfallen, also called Dusk Lily rebels,[1] are dissident nightfallen and nightborne that have splintered from the remainder of nightborne society in Suramar, on the Broken Isles. Based from the underground complex of Shal'Aran, they are in open opposition to the agreement formed between the demonic Burning Legion and the nightborne leader Grand Magistrix Elisande, which allowed the demons access to Suramar City during their third invasion of Azeroth.
The rebels are led by the recently-exiled First Arcanist Thalyssra, and were from the outset mainly composed of nightfallen—shal'dorei who were cut off from all sources of arcwine and thus the Nightwell's energy. As their rebellion against the Grand Magistrix began to make gains (with outside assistance) the faction was joined by many other nightborne who were either themselves exiled, or had otherwise become disillusioned with the government in Suramar. The rebels also began to train withered to fight on their side, bolstering their ranks. In addition to this, the group successfully cultivated the immense power of the Arcan'dor, discovering a definitive cure for their people's dependence on the Nightwell.
As the group's influence and power continued to grow, they eventually accepted aid from the Night Elves and Blood Elves (as well as the Kirin Tor) who spearheaded an assault on Suramar City itself, with the aim of overthrowing Elisande's regime.
Reputation
Many quests in Suramar award reputation, and completing [Nightfallen But Not Forgotten] opens up their world quests. Progressing further into the faction's storyline unlocks more quests for additional reputation. [Arcane Remnant of Falanaar] and [Arcane Tablet of Falanaar] both come from chests in Quest:Withered Army Training, and after completing the mission.
Feeding
Cut off from all sources of Arcwine, you will have to provide [Ancient Mana] to First Arcanist Thalyssra, and after you recruit them, Chief Telemancer Oculeth and Arcanist Valtrois, in order to feed them and allow them to keep functioning.
Each one has an Arcane Thirst meter that starts at 100 and slowly depletes to one. As part of their quests you will have to sate them once as a example mechanic. From 100 to one takes about one day, thus, they each have a daily to feed them 50 Ancient Mana. This will reward a unique one hour buff and 75 rep.
Their state will be listed as Stable until their Arcane Thirst reaches one, at which they will be listed as Withering. When this happens, the quest giver will be starving, start trembling and will not be able to do anything for you until you complete the feeding daily.
Once you complete Quest:Friends On the Outside, you can also purchase the buffs at any time. Altogether, it is also at a discount at 120 Ancient Mana.
Note that for gameplay purposes, the quest givers will not actually become Withered if you do not do their feeding daily over a long period of time, since lore states that the change is permanent and irreversible.
