Gender Male
Race Charred behemoth (Giant)
Level ?? Boss
Reaction Alliance Horde
Location Torghast, Tower of the Damned
Status Killable

The Tarragrue is an extremely powerful charred behemoth, a relentless beast that has stalked the halls of Torghast since the tower's first spire was raised. He has trampled countless souls to ash.[1] During Torghast runs, he can be seen behind a wall on certain floors, watching the players but unable to attack. He also serves as a boss in the Sanctum of Domination raid.

Prior to patch 9.1, the Tarragrue played a much larger role during Torghast runs. If the player or group reached a certain number of deaths in a single run, the Tarragrue would appear at the current level's entrance and begin slowly moving toward the exit. If he spotted any players, he would hunt them down and kill them. If the Tarragrue reached the end of the level before the players or killed all players in the level, the run would end and the players would be thrown out of Torghast.[2]

Notes and trivia[]

  • The Tarragrue's name is a portmanteau of two famous monsters from other fantasy games: the Tarrasque from Dungeons & Dragons and the grue from Zork. See also the Brue.
  • Early in the Shadowlands alpha, killing the Tarragrue would cause him to transform into a steak.
