Biography[]

Main article: Memory (Suramar)

Originally a Nightborne who lived in Suramar City, he was banished by Elisande, forced to leave his wife and daughter behind. Over time, he gradually starved in the wilds, until he became a raging Withered. However, after finding a seed of an Arcan'dor in Falanaar, his mind was given peace from the inherent rage that withering bestowed.[1]

Eventually, he was found by Arcanist Kel'danath, his sixteenth test subject in a bid to study and perhaps communicate with the withered. The ultimate goal was to see if the condition could be reversed. It was Kel'danath who gave him the name Theryn. Finding his arcane essence to be much more soothed than his other subjects, Kel'danath drew from Theryn to craft a spellstone that managed to calm the withered, most of the time.[2] Unfortunately, Kel'danath eventually withered himself, but Theryn remained bound by his spell. Shortly afterward, he was found by outlanders working with First Arcanist Thalyssra and brought back to Shal'Aran.[3]

Unwithered Theryn

A memory of Theryn and presumably his family

Determined to discover what had touched Theryn to calm him, Thalyssra delved into his mind, finding memories of his exile, his time in the wilds of Suramar, his withering, and eventually the seed of the Arcan'dor.[1] Using this information, Thalyssra sent the outlanders to find the seed.

Although the person Theryn once was is lost forever, his experiences as a withered led to the growth of a new Arcan'dor, and in turn the salvation of the entire Nightborne race.

Following the end of the third invasion of the Burning Legion, Theryn can be found in the uninstanced Nighthold, being watched over by a Nighthold Retainer who says he seems happy enough to wander around the gardens.
